Wish you all Happy Good Friday and upcoming Easter Sunday!
1) What makes Jesus unique among other gods?
That's so amazing question! See, we live in a world where there are many gods worshiped right? Each of them has their own stories and tales. They are also depicted as powerful and amazing! But you know what? Jesus stands alone as unique among all is because of his resurrection! See, nobody preach about death of their gods, avatars or gurus. They lived, taught great things and went away! But Jesus came, die and rose again which adds strength to his claims of being Truth, Way and Life! That's what makes him so unique!
Bible References:
John 14:6 – “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”
Explanation: This verse shows Jesus’ unique claim to be the only path to God, distinguishing Him from other gods or figures who don’t make such exclusive claims.
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 – “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.”
Explanation: Paul emphasizes the resurrection as a core truth of Christianity, setting Jesus apart from other religious figures who did not rise from the dead.
Acts 4:12 – “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”
Explanation: This verse underscores Jesus’ unique role as the only Savior, unlike other gods or avatars who cannot offer salvation.
Romans 1:4 – “And who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Explanation: The resurrection proves Jesus’ divine power and Sonship, making Him unique among all others.
2) I wonder what "False teaching" really mean? I keep hearing this at my home from my parents and they keep warning me to stay away from these teachings. But what is it all about?
Wow, I am so glad to hear that! It seems your parents are so much concerned about your faith! Simply to talk, "False teaching" by its name means any kind of teachings that are false regarding our faith! Like if someone denies Jesus is God, he didn't die on cross or he didn't even rise from dead, all these teachings are false! And these are kind of traps by the devil to keep us away from God's truth! Its like false notice sometimes we get or false information which leads us to wrong direction! The Bible has indeed a lot to talk about it! Some verses like "who is the liar? The one who denies Jesus is Son of God", "If Jesus didn't rise from dead, our faith is useless", "In end times, many false teachers will come with false teachings" and so on! So, we must continuously study the Bible and ask God for his wisdom to be safe from these teachings! 😬😬😬
Bonus: We already have such teachings like Sachai kendra in Nepal that mixes Hindu-Christian practices, denies Jesus as God, and focus more on healing! We do have other older groups like Jehovah witness whom you all might have heard! They too deny Jesus as God! They are found sharing their tracts and watchtower books with attractive layouts! Or, Mother Jerusalem group who teach there is a female God too like a mother God! And many such teachings are around us today! So, whenever you encounter anything such, don't worry, just share it with your parents, us and church pastors or elders! They will obviously guide you! 🤗
Bible References:
1 John 2:22 – “Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist—denying the Father and the Son.”
Explanation: This verse directly addresses false teachings that deny Jesus as the Son of God, like some groups mentioned (e.g., Jehovah’s Witnesses or Sachai Kendra). It’s a clear warning for kids to recognize such teachings as false.
1 Corinthians 15:14 – “And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.”
Explanation: Paul highlights that the resurrection is central to Christian faith. Teachings that deny this (e.g., some false groups) undermine the foundation of Christianity.
2 Timothy 4:3-4 – “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.”
Explanation: This warns about false teachers who spread misleading ideas. Kids can understand this as “fake news” about God that sounds nice but isn’t true.
Matthew 7:15 – “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.”
Explanation: Jesus warns about false teachers who seem trustworthy but spread lies. This is a good verse to teach kids to be cautious and check teachings against the Bible.
James 1:5 – “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
Explanation: Encourages kids to pray for wisdom to discern true teachings from false ones, reinforcing the importance of seeking God’s guidance.
3) Why Good Friday is called 'Good'? Jesus suffered a horrible death on that day which should have been called bad, isn't it?
I love your curiosity! Yes, it seems to everyone that the day Jesus suffered his horrible death needs to be called a Bad Friday instead! But you know? It is really a Bad Friday! But for the Satan, not for us! It is a Good Friday because Jesus died in our place so that we could live in him! Jesus actually came to die! Many people come and go leaving behind their contributions like scientists, heroes, etc. but Jesus came to offer his death as once for all sacrifice for our sins! His death shows God's love and grace for us and judgement over our sins! Jesus said it is finished while dying which shows that his mission on the earth was completed when he died finally on the cross! Satan got defeated and we got a way to receive forgiveness for our sins and access back to our heavenly Father! That's why it is Good Friday!
Bible References:
John 19:30 – “When he had received the drink, Jesus said, ‘It is finished.’ With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.”
Explanation: Jesus’ words “It is finished” show that His death completed God’s plan to pay for our sins. For kids, this is like Jesus saying, “Mission accomplished!” making the day “good” for us.
Romans 5:8 – “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Explanation: This verse highlights God’s love shown through Jesus’ death. Even though the cross was painful, it’s “good” because it shows how much God loves us.
Colossians 2:15 – “And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.”
Explanation: Jesus’ death defeated Satan and evil powers, making Good Friday a victory day. Kids can think of this as Jesus winning the ultimate battle against the “bad guy” (Satan).
1 Peter 2:24 – “He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.”
Explanation: Jesus took our sins on the cross, giving us forgiveness and new life. This makes His death “good” because it frees us from sin’s punishment.
Hebrews 10:10 – “And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”
Explanation: Jesus’ death was a one-time sacrifice for all sins, unlike any other sacrifice. This makes Good Friday “good” because it’s the day our salvation was secured.
4) What if Jesus had not resurrected from death?
Now that's so much deep question we must understand! If Jesus had not been resurrected, we wouldn't be here, church wouldn't be here, Christianity wouldn't be here! If he had not raised from dead, we would be still in our sins, we would be false witness and testimonies, our faith would be useless and we would be more miserable people on earth than any others! Moreover, Jesus would be the greatest liar ever born in human history! His resurrection is a way to a new hope! Just as he resurrected, we all would also resurrect and get exciting new body! Our faith stands because of his resurrection! What's more? Through Adam, death ruled over humanity but through Jesus life is given to us! This is something that the world may overlook or even neglect, but for us it is the only reason why we believe Jesus to be the True God!
Bible References:
1 Corinthians 15:17-19 – “And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.”
Explanation: Paul explains that without the resurrection, our faith is worthless, and we’re still guilty of sin. For kids, this shows that Jesus’ rising from the dead is the “proof” that everything He said is true.
Romans 1:4 – “And who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Explanation: The resurrection proves Jesus is God’s Son. Without it, He’d be just another teacher, not the Savior.
1 Corinthians 15:20-22 – “But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.”
Explanation: Jesus’ resurrection guarantees our future resurrection. Through Adam, we all face death, but through Jesus, we receive eternal life. Kids can see this as Jesus opening the door to heaven for us.
John 11:25-26 – “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?’”
Explanation: Jesus promises eternal life through His resurrection. Without it, His promise would be false, and we’d have no hope beyond this life.
Acts 17:31 – “For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.”
Explanation: The resurrection is God’s proof that Jesus is the true Savior and Judge. Without it, His claims would lack evidence.
