Just to mention the context or the background, Superman gets killed by
Doomsday. He takes away Supes heart and submits it to Lex Luther. Superman’s
death was an unexpected event for Lois and two twin sons. They mourned for the
loss. They never thought Superman would ever get killed in such a horrible way.
Lois asks younger son Jordan to fly off immediately to the Fortress and ask
grandma to do something for the dead body of Superman. However, Jordan was told
that she couldn’t do much without getting Superman’s heart. Hearing this,
Jordan attempts to do something for his dad. He too had genetic superpowers
like Superman. However, he wasn’t prepared like his dad Clark. He wasn’t tactically
trained for every trials, struggles and situations. A common problems in young
age. While talking with elder brother Jonathan, Jordan hears heart beat of his
dad and immediately flies off to the spot underestimating his brother’s
warning. The unfortunate situation follows when Jordan gets severely trapped by
trained guards who used powerful weapon projecting Kryptonite. He fails to
dodge like his dad. Next, Lex Luther uses excessive Ultrasonic sound to give
him pain. Jordan then realizes he wasn’t ready. Before this event, Jordan once
attempted Lex Luthor to get the heart by threatening him. Luthor said he wasn’t
ready to make enemies. Jordan realizes his mistake and realizes that just
having powers don’t make him like his dad. It takes discipline, preparations,
trials and struggle.
This is something I think is happening today in Christian circle. We
want eagerly to be like Jesus, to be like God. We think, just because we get
powers from the Holy Spirit, just because we have intellectuality given by God,
just because we have abundant blessings given by God, we grow in image of
Christ. And that’s horrible presupposition of our mind. This leads to failure
in our faith journey. God wants us to get enough preparations and learn from
Holy Spirit. But many of us take too much excitement to exalt ourselves. God
wants us being molded into desired shape and yet we are just enjoying or
living our own ways with God given privileges. Either it be charismatic circle
or it be the Intellectual circle, there are too many show off, pride, circus in
name of mission and ministry. We then think we are becoming like Jesus; we are
working like Jesus. But when the devil enters and begins using his weapons, we
fall down immediately and find ourselves very weak to face his roaring and attacks!
Jesus focuses on teaching others (Matt. 28:18-20), discipleship, and
obedience (Jn. 14:15). Jesus focuses on putting upon whole armour of God (Eph. 6:11-18) because Satan is a
roaring lion (1 Pet. 5:8). Yet we fail because we try to become like him in wrong ways. Some
Charismatics try to become like him with miracles while intellectuals try to
become like him by showing knowledge. In both areas, they lack enough
preparation and Satan is a clever adversary who knows where to trigger us and
make us collapse. We are ought to follow Jesus, obey his ways and teachings,
abide in him, know him and live with him. Thus, we become like him. We don’t
become like him by excellent reasoning skill, we don’t become like him by
excellent healing shows or we don’t become like him by living a conservative
life. Otherwise, Satan will surely whisper into our ears: You aren’t ready yet!
