Full video: Anyway Door
Personally, I loved this video and overall discussion on modern vs ancient science. It was a thought provoking friendly discussion about the universe, its origin, physics, quantum physics, human life, time, anti-matter, theories and future predictions of scientific progression, time-dilation, time-travel, parallel universe, multiverse, mathematics and so many other interesting stuffs. The talk was about science in light of how ancient philosophies (Eastern) explained the universe and how the modern science continues to illuminate the realities of the universe.
The whole discussion leaves us much with thoughtful questions in mind whether we can really understand everything about the universe despite the ongoing scientific progression theoretically, mathematically and experimentally. The core idea is that the universe is really sophisticated and mysterious to out human mind. Regardless of human attempts, nobody can reach the peak of full knowledge of what everything is and how everything really work except for mathematical analysis [Deut. 29:29]. Meanwhile, the discussion gives a probabilistic hope for advance future scientific progression which is now considered to be merely sci-fi [Dan. 12:4].
Certain thought provoking contents that caught my attention here was the probability of belief in 'God-like-stuff' even in science due to mysterious nature of the universe [Rom. 1:20]. The symmetry, asymmetry, mysterious energy holding up everything, ordering and laws can somehow act as impending fuel for God's presence in the universe although it can be debated otherwise. [Hebrews 1:3?]
The discussion also provides an interesting correction on some myths we have been believing in science and illuminates very difficult concepts of physics and how they have changed the ways we can look at the universe after Newton's contribution. An interesting concern has been laid down whether the universe has been made so ordered and systematic to make human life possible or human life became possible just because the whole system is equilibrium [Purpose vs Probability]. An interesting point to be noted was that the Big Bang was presented as a flawed theory but if it was a reality then would put forward many questions regarding the originator. Furthermore, this discussion also provides an interesting look at the concept of time concerning different theories about it.
Overall, the discussion was worth watching and Biblically thinking Christians should also think of the universe in this way. For us, the universe shows God's glory and the Cross shows His Love for us. We aren't informed how and when God created this universe but it seems He certainly talks about the laws of universe [Job 38:33, Jer. 33:25], He states that not everything is revealed by God which might include the things of this universe [Deu. 29:29], He seems indicating about His Word as some kind of Cosmic Energy [Heb. 1:3], He depicts how He has revealed Himself though the nature hence the universe appears magnificent and even mysterious to us [Rom. 1:20] and He seems to indicate that all human achievement are indeed His blessing [Gen. 1:28]!
Finally, the universe, the laws of physics, philosophy of human survival and religion meeting science are interesting topics that Christians should discuss. Obviously, we worship the creator but understanding the creation also boosts our spirit and heart to glorify our God more!
