How much do we care the faith condition of our teenage and
young groups? Do we guide them enough in learning deep God’s word and helping
them in their difficulties and curiosity? Do we make them enjoy just worship
sessions or do we care enough what they are learning about God? How much impact
are we becoming to them? We may share them sometimes stories of our struggle in
faith journey but how much then are we guiding them in their journey? These
questions matter much in our time where deception is rising so greatly that our
future generation might get flooded away by the falsehood.
I feel happy to see when they ask me questions. First of
all, I am not intending to say that I am a scholar, a theologian, a person with
A to Z Bible knowledge. No! I am not saying that! Nor I am saying that I can
answer all their queries either. But what I am specifically trying to say is
that I feel happy for their curious mind and that prompts me to dive even
deeper into God’s word and evaluate myself as well. It is obvious that,
whenever I have answers, I guide them but whenever I don’t have, I get
opportunity to research and get the reliable resources for them. You know what?
Guiding in resources is also equally important otherwise they can fall into wrong
information!
If they have a vision to form groups for the Bible study,
evangelism and reaching out for missions, we can guide them by sharing our
experiences. We should arrange them a privilege to have fruitful trainings so
that they can learn from us. That’s the way how we engage in discipleship and university
engagement. Our teens and youth circles can have great visions and we need to
address them and if possible, have frequent talks with them to know their
motives and minds. We can give them ideas and help them behind the curtain. They
might get lots of troubles at first place, lots of stress, discouragements,
dissatisfaction, sufferings and many more. Yet, we can help them in these
situations. God doesn’t make us fail.
They may be alone at first, no team, no ideas, no resources,
nothing. But that’s the germinating phase of a new seed! And who enables their
growth? None other than Triune God! [1 Cor. 3:6] We just need to pray continuously
for them, pushing them, encourage them and it is God who helps them to prosper
and be fruitful to the next generation! What we must do is to follow up them
regularly and listen to their problems, ambition and goal and try helping them.
It is no more joy to see our future generation growing and
they have aim to be God’s vessels. It is our sincere responsibility to engage
in discipleship to build them. Indeed, it is God who gives them call and its
conviction. Amen!
