It is alarming!

Questions to discuss:-

1) What do you observe in Christmas celebration around the world?

2) What kind of differences you see in how they enjoy vs how we enjoy it.

3) Thoughts on Christmas decor like Santa, Trees, etc.

4) How much do peoples know about Jesus around us? Like do you know anything what people think who Jesus is?

5) Why isn't Christmas as obvious as other religious festivals?

6) In what ways you can draw people's attention from Christmas celebration to Christ?

I organized a class on these questions to students who study in grade 7-10. They are 12-15 years and growing up with digital world. However, I was left with great regrets. I thought I should have simply taken class on something else!

These questions are indeed crucial for growing kids. Don’t they go to schools and have non-Christian friends and families? Don’t they use digital Medias? I got to know that maximum students were not aware about religious stuffs! Most of them didn't even care anything! It is alarming that our church is producing weak believers! Don’t try saying that it’s not job of Sunday school to guide kids in these! Then whose responsibility is it?

I found them not understanding questions and many were silent! I felt I was rather a foolish person to make them engage in these questions! This is really serious issue! It’s alarming! Modern kids know how to speak spectacular English, they know how to use chatgpt! Yet they aren't interested in these practical theological issues that would one day bother them!

What’s then the point of singing hymns? What’s then the point of worshipping? Do they even understand what they are doing? I am not scolding them but expressing my deeper pain for their weak foundation!

Every Christmas, we have unnecessary stuffs in highlight like Santa Claus! Kids enjoy these! But they aren't taught what they are doing! Teachers aren't teaching them! They are lacking guidance! They are lacking faith discussion! Is this how a church would help kids grow?

When it comes to denominational boundary, church is ready to teach and safe-guard kids. But in essential and practical concerns, where is the church? Is this how we expect these kids would be a spiritual warrior?

Dear church, youth, teens and Sunday school! Please, get a paradigm shift! Our kids are vulnerable! Help them to grow and engage in faith discussion! What if they really face these concerns in their life one day? Perseverance in faith isn't that easy journey! We all have to go through up and down!
