This is one of the classic example of how Post-modern New Age beliefs is impacting the Biblical faith. We really got to be serious about this! The name of God YHWH is claimed to be nothing more than name of ourselves!
The description goes like this:
- YHWH is not the name of an external god but the name of yourself.
- When flipped on its side it reveals the human body because the body is a temple that houses the divine consciousness within you the essence of life of God of awakefulness.
- Even when you breathe you can hear YHWH. Breathe in that’s YAH. Breathe out that’s WEH. Breath was seen as the breath of God because it keeps you alive in this world. You are not just breathing you are breathing life consciousness the force that keeps the body alive and aware.
- YHWH translates to “I Am” and I Am is the self. It is consciousness itself.
- Breathwork is one of the fastest ways to raise your consciousness clear blockages and reach higher energy.
- YHWH is not the name of God but the name of yourself the divine within you. Everyone is YHWH.
If not, it means you still need to update yourself how the postmodern belief system is now evolving with an aim of inter-mixing different belief systems. It is important because even the scripture commands us to be alert. Anything that teaches odd apart from the foundational Biblical principle about God, humanity and creation is nothing but False Teaching or technically, Heresy!
Here are breakdowns of what the post is actually intending to teach us!
- We are basically god!
- There is a divine consciousness within us that we must recognize! Our body and breathing hints at it!
- There are various energy levels that we have to reach by proper breathing exercises!
Well, a famous Christian Apologetics ministry 'got questions' has to say this about the association of our breathing with God's Name:
"While it is an interesting thought, the idea that every breath forms the name Yahweh is not found in the Bible. The theory is the domain of Jewish mysticism. However, it is true that life is a gift from God. Every moment we live should be dedicated to the glory of God, and we should constantly acknowledge our dependence on Him. Yahweh deserves to be praised with our every breath."
Christian Answers for the New Age has to say this:
The claim being made popular from this fact:
A woman named Sandra Thurman Caporale from the Memorial Church of Christ in Houston is credited with this particular exploration into the name God revealed for Himself. She talks about how the pronunciation of the name without the modern-day vowels sounds like breathing:
"YH (inhale): WH (exhale)."

What is of importance with the name God gave Moses is the meaning of “I AM THAT I AM.” The meaning reveals God as the self-existent one who is living and eternal; he always has been and always will be. This revelation was in contrast to the idols of Egypt and other pagan gods that had to be pressed into statues or carved and carried about. They were local gods with supposed power over certain areas or forces of nature but could not speak, hear, travel, or deliver their worshipers from harm.
The popularity of meditation in the culture (mostly based on Eastern meditative practices), and consequently the breath being made into something it is not (as in the many “breathwork” practices which are New Age), has contributed to the popularity of the idea of “Yahweh” as breathing.
Increased Contemplative practices in the church have turned attention to breath and breathing since many of those techniques involve breathing methods, focus on breath, and misuse of Scripture about God’s breath that take it literally.
Breath has become almost a sacred thing, which is what it is in Eastern religions as chi and prana. The correlation of breathing with God’s name is a regrettable consequence of these non-Christian spiritual influences.
This idea actually cheapens God’s name; it does not exalt his name nor does it exalt God. Moreover, speaking God’s name is not beneficial without faith. Saying the name of God is not a magical incantation.
Whenever a novel idea appearns on the scene that has not been “discovered” or noticed in 2,000 years of Christian history by thousands of scholars, Bible commentators, and students in all that time, skepticism should be the rule. If it is true that breathing is equivalent to saying YHWH, not only would this have been recognized by now, but it would make rational sense in light of God’s word and character. However, it is a mere foolish trend with no basis in Hebrew, in Scripture, in history, in scholasticsm, in light of God’s character, or the context of the passage.

Now, this is basically a U-turn! Trying to state something that sounds Biblically sense and taking a U-turn to conclude something else! A mere Christian can conclude it as our very being represents God's essence, we are intended to be with him, we have his prints and so on. But, we can simply see how postmodern New Age nonsense carries this uncertain claim to conclude something different and even dangerous!
The Bible doesn't talk anything about reaching into higher consciousness, upgrading energy levels (it seems like Kundalini chakras) but this is simply inter-mingling the beliefs with other mystical religions! Even the Corinthians had similar thoughts and experience in their mind while using spiritual gifts like tongues and we can see how Paul deals with such crazy thoughts in 1 Cor. 12-14 chapters!
We are called to imitate God, not to declare ourselves God! [Eph. 5:1-2] And, if we are breathing the force that keeps us alive, where does the necessity of Holy Spirit then go? All humanity are spiritually dead in sin! Until and unless, Holy Spirit intervenes in our life, we cannot receive a genuine new birth without which we cannot enter God's kingdom! Only those are alive in whom the Spirit of God dwells! If breathing the force alone makes us alive then it cannot lead us to Christ. We have blockage by sin and only Jesus' shed blood can deal with this! The breathing exercises are pure nonsense and merely promoting meditations and yoga!
No, not everyone is YHWH and that's blasphemy! We cannot equate ourselves with our creator! In the words of late Dr. Michael Heiser, a popular Biblical scholar, we can rather say 'YHWH is Elohim, but not all Elohim is YHWH. He is the unique being apart from all Elohim.'

Dear Christians, don't just focus on worship and blindly attaching to anything being said or claimed just because it has anything amazing to say associated with Biblical terms! You can just see how devastating conclusion has been made with such amazing plays with God's Holy Name! We must be cautious about every single claims if it links itself with the Bible!
