How shall we offer the Good News to our Hindu neighborhood?
How shall we present Christ to them?
The challenges are so real and we need enough guidance.
This series shall guide your way on rightly approaching the Hindu world.
Reaching Hindus to offer water of life:
1. Be familiar with historical background of this religion. How the religion emerged and how it evolved.
2. Be familiar with their philosophy. Remember, Hinduism is complex in philosophy. There are both theist and atheist philosophy in Hinduism. We cannot think of just holding one and evaluate whole religion.
3. Be familiar with their scripture. Their classification, history, purpose, contents, teaching and philosophy.
4. Be familiar with worldviews they have. They are not limited to a particular worldview. There are atheism, animism, pantheism, polytheism, monotheism, henotheism and so many kinds of worldviews.
5. Be familiar with their deities, concept of God, major doctrines and worship systems.
6. Test them logically, socially, historically, scientifically and philosophically without jumping beyond context.
7. Offer Jesus to them. They may revere him as one of many gods. Be careful not to abuse their faith, rituals and gods.
8. Just share them gospel. Remember, karma is one big problem for them. Karma chakra and reincarnation are painful. Everything they do is to escape from this and attain moksha. They too are looking for mukti.
9. Give them time and put forward a positive opportunity to rethink. Don't get worry even if they reject Jesus. At least you shared gospel!
10. Be careful not to use any Hindu scripture cherry picked shlokas to show that Jesus has been prophesized. E.g. Vedas, Upanishads, Gita, Bhavishya Purana, etc. This drops down axe to our own faith rather than convincing them.
Bonus: Prayer and seeking guidance of Holy Spirit is always inclusive 😁.
